Shu Uemura’s summer collection is absolutely amazing! It is a collaboration, with designer Kathleen Kye, inspired by K-Pop and they absolutely nailed it. The graphic nature of her designs is reflected in the fun, playful packaging. The collection features makeup, haircare and skincare. I was lucky enough to be sent some of the gorgeous cosmetics including the brow pencils, brow palette, lip pencils and the amazing sheer colour balm.
One of my favourite things about this collection is that every image means something. The 24 stands for 24hrs, a symbol for the sleepless city and the Korean youth while the shaking hands is a symbol of togetherness. See all the meanings here.
I received the sheer colour lip balms and while I thought they were a little bright, I was so wrong because they’re amazing! While they look bright in their packaging, they go on with a small amount of colour and a gorgeous shine. They are a melting balm that react to your lips pH levels to enhance the colour. The colours shown are glow in pink and hugged in peach.
The brow sword are in rose and deep violet, two very bold shades that I am not brave enough to try. They are absolutely stunning though and the shape of the pencil itself is absolutely incredible making it very easy to line and fill brows. The brow sword comes with a spoolie attached to the other end. The two colours are dark violet and dark rose.
The brow palette is gorgeous! The colours are highly pigmented and apply with ease. The shades are a touch to dark for me normally, but I applied fake tan today and used them and it look great! There are two powers in each palette allowing you to mix and match for a darker or lighter look. The colour palette shown is walnut brown/acorn.
The drawing pencils are fantastic. They are smudge-proof, water-proof and an incredibly soft, pigmented formula. Again the colours are bright and reflect the designers edgy style. The colours shown are pink and navy.
